Boston Mycology Club and Rhode Island Mycological Society
Mushroom Foray and Picnic at Pulaski State Park
Join the Rhode Island Mycological Society and our friends from the Boston Mycological Club for a day of fungi, forest exploration, and time together outdoors.
We will split into small groups and walk the beautiful trails through Pulaski State Park’s pine and oak forest, look closely at the fungi we find, and learn from the forest and from one another. After the walk, we’ll gather to discuss what was found and enjoy our picnic lunches and an unhurried summer afternoon together.
Bring your own food, a chair or blanket, and, if you’d like, something to share, such as a snack or a lawn game. Whatever you think a picnic mushroom picnic should have! (Art and musical instruments welcomed!)
There are restrooms and changing rooms, and you can swim in Peck Pond, as long as the lifeguard is on duty. Stay and wander the trails, or rest in the shade, and spend time with people who are curious about fungi and the natural world.
This event is free, family-friendly, and open to everyone. No experience is needed.
Please pack out your trash and help us leave the park clean. Alcohol is not permitted in Rhode Island state parks. Please do not bring alcoholic beverages.
